its quite rare for this witch to actually buy cds but ... i got two cds today! both from different places. it's time i learnt how to appreciate.

aspidistrafly- i hold a wish for you

i love how the album's produced; in an accordion photo album featuring photography by April Lee one of the two members of the band. this very album that i own now happened to be in the cd player for preview when i was back at asylum studios and i couldn't help but put them on to get a short glimpse of the sound. i fell in love immediately as it transported me into the scenes of great fields and blue skies, just like that on the album cover.

i came across this band whilst listening to last.fm online and got some songs like insomnia and label my mind, blown downloaded. whilst having the cd previewed, the first track made my ears perk up, but i know there're deeper meanings to the songs so i need to listen to it again to do the producers justice. i cant listen to music as i did in the past. i've been too shallow.

think we kinda annoyed the shop person after previewing so many cds. whoops. sorry for the trouble , lady. 0; )

i'm such an idiot. today's the only day in my life that i arrive late for school. well yes its the hols already but i forgot entirely that i had to clear the workshop by 5pm. 5 PM!!@!@#!# !@# and i arrived at like, close to 6!! what an idiot. i guess i was so used to hanging out in school till after hours that i just overlooked everything. argh. what an idiot. sorry mada for all the inconvenience caused. argh.

after packing everything outside the workshop, returned stuff back to studioland and went to look for floaty at the staff pod. had a good talk with Sanjay, then left for tau hway with floaty. i appreciate everything floaty's advices and how she's really trying to help, but stubborn as i am, i'm unable to accept it all yet. i might in time to come, when something happens, but for now its not soon.

my works are juvenile. need detachment. need to be objective. need to learn from those who are doing well. need to change working habits. need to work smart. need to strategise. need to REMEMBER goals and reason for being.

i realised after critic today that what mada said was right. i need to try to distance myself from my works so that my personal emotions will not affect my being.

today during my first critic session, i broke down again. i failed to go past the 5th or 6th sentence of my print out "script". i tried to pull myself together but i struggled with the continuation as my speech collapsed again when all the ill memories came rushig into my mind. the words that trigger the tears brought me back to the past when tbe event took place and i relived it on the spot.

my focus was off and amidst the abrupt pauses, i tried very hard to continue with the presentation, which got really chaotic.

anyways, i thought negatively of my critic at first because i felt i didnt get the feedback i needed. the students didnt comment much. i was told that my works are too literal and it would be good to try using metaphors instead. i got good response on tomatogirl being ambiguous and leading the viewer to the character. to be continued .. .

I can't help but feel that my eyes will turn against me one day. my vision has never been that stable ever since i stepped into art school. i started to have stinging sensations in both my eyes last year, and as a result, i'd freeze on the spot because it was too painful to even open them, and someone has to rush to source for tissue to save me. once, on the train home, my eyes teared so badly, causing my nose to run, and made the old man beside me think i was crying. he offered me a whole packet of tissue.

i need to prepare myself for the worse. i can imagine how the blind artists felt during the blinding process and the period of shock and adjustment if they were made blind from an accident.

As i write, people are walking in and out from my cozy little corner.

i do welcome the new people i've met the past month, but being friendly does have it consequences. i know people know that i've got work to do, we all have work to do. and a little stopping by to say hi is quite reasonable for a short walk around studioland. however, if there are many many many people stopping by to say hi every other lapse of five minutes, it gets FREAKIN' IRRITATING!!! it distracts me from my work, apart from being a receptionist. People stop by, ask me for directions, ask me for comments, talk about their concept, sit down and play tunes, wriggle on the spot, comment about my objects left on my table, check out what i am doing, and some idiot sitting opposite me will give me that smirk on his face whenever....and it makes me ... ARGH...........................

It got very unbearable the past two days and i can't really get work down. i wanna turn these people down but i find it quite hard to do so. some apparently don't know that i'm on earphones, which i blast at max on purpose, and step in to tap on my back and more often than not, gives me a shock.

i hate my cozy little corner. its far too welcoming. even the prof says its more like and exhibition space with me as a gallery sitter cum receptionist. i hate it i hate it i hate it. i wanna get work done. i need to concentrate. so people please give me some peace!

i got a call right before workshop induction from Ear in corp comms department, asking me if i was able to do portrait drawing in an event happening next month because asdfajsjfo;a told her that i was able to do so.

workshop induction was quite boring. the wait between stations was just so boring. handling the equipment's SO EASY rite... ... ... zzz...zzz...zzzzzzzzz.. why... induct... us... forrrrrr.....zzzzz.z.z.z.z.zz.z.z.z.

anyway i went into the office and did a sketch of Ear in 12 mins and she said she looked like her mom. the people workin' in there were really funny esp the guy who stars in tv ads. they were trying to distract me from her , to draw them in funny poses instead. haha.

i have no speed. with speed comes minimum accuracy. i'm not good enough. why not call the DEEPBLUE SEA? she's FAR FAR WAY WAY BETTER THAN I.

i enjoy graphic novel lessons because what we discuss is so real and can be related to life and everything that goes with it. going to lessons make me feel relaxed. also today's comic artist we talked about does works that are very human, and we also discussed about hte human spirit in these people, that they portray what is reality in their drawings which make people who overlook these mundane matters think.

ducking and throwing duku-grenades are my forte as i hid behind the white walls that make up the maze of studioland. my keen ears picked up signals through the echoes of a familiar sound, and i aimed and tossed the grenade ov

It hit the target, on his arm. i rejoiced. as cowardice sat in, i took shelter behind a chair, under a vacant table. whilst in camouflage mode, i still threw grenades at the target as he approached in his unawares. another target swept by so close to me and i open fire and the victim wronged an innocent who stood beside her.

went down to Windlingland to get more white block printing in because the lack of it has been contributing to stingy prints. Ferdangulous had mixed a huge portion of a nice hue of turquoise and i loved it. since he was going to rid it, i saved the whole portion of it for my next monoprint of soft floaty.

i was a little irritated that the library wasn't open today. with no access to the photocopiers, i had to fork out 10c for an enlargement of the sketch so that i could have a variant.

i am so enjoying this. especially on this stress-free day.

i hate it hate it hate it when people toy around with the suns of studioland. Especially the ones i am directly seated under. Especially when it is dark at night. Just half an hour before closing time, a few suns got shot down by an invisible force which caused a huge uproar, of course by yours truly. Profanities were hurled at the "bastard" who was playing with them, but the "bastard" was nowhere to be found. It took me all week to get settled down to finally do THE FIRST SKETCH OF THE CENTURY and this had to happen- ok, ok i'll stop exaggerating, the first sketch of the semester.

I lost all mood to carry on and since i was high on sing-along music, i started to play on the guitar and had duets with Scoobs till he had to leave for Broobs.

The last person to leave studioland bid any presences goodbye and prayed hard that the sun would be put back on in the morning.

i love the way the shadows of my guppies are cast upon the small rock. That unfocused movement of grey is beautiful. i love the atmosphere of 8 in studioland.

the mystery of one lost, second gone remains.

then the crowd washed in like the waves coming onto shore, and the suns rose with the flick of the switch. the albinos start their vigour in response to the disruption of peace whilst the guppies continue to form beautiful greys upon the rock, unknowing the magic they are empowered within.

i was on track and was able to do a bit of skipping. in this discipline, its quite hard to stay healthy. but healthy i must be. whether what mum mum chops said about my lifeline is true or not, i want to continue living as long as my time on earth permits.

Cat Cat Woodblock

When i came to school i was still drowning in yesterday's misery. I did a print of my work in progress- the three eyed kitty from Ofia- which turned out quite bad and decided that the otarhboard(dunno how to spell it) was not my thing. i'd prefer lino and i haven't really done woodblock prints larger than 3 by 2 cm so i gave it a go with the jelutong block i got initially for last sem's pyrography of tomatoes.

As i displayed the pictures of the cat cat i took last night before going to hell, i realised that i had a better shot of another cat i took right outside school and decided to do my first carving based on her. I initially wanted to try to mimick the eyes of th

e owl in this pic, however and as usual, i tried to take on realism (do u call this realism? not sure) and here's my process and finally, the print.

of tracing paper that had the

subtle grey tones that remind

me of streaks on a cat.

I planned to do a few more wood carvings each for one of my pets but my wood stock needed to be replenished so i headed down to Daiso. I picked out a few variations of wood to test the carvings on and spent in total about $20 there. Well, a bit of retail therapy sure helps improve my mood, especially if its buying the necessary items. I got some rice paper and some other kind of paper used for presentation purposes while serving fried tempura for material tests.

Got back to the studio and started to saw the wood into half. Please don't judge me by what i wear. i can be tough, even though i am in a dress. ( Recently i've been wearing dresses because my pants cant fit already. without excercise, my thigh muscles have failed to be firm and as a result, turned into fats, and thus, expanded in the process. ) Anyway, Ernie came and asked for 10 mins of help as i was doing the sawing. Since it was just 10 mins i agreed. What his friend was doing for his photography project was quite cool. check this out.

sing the whoot took longer than ten mins, i wanted to get on with work. But people were planning to go to 8q's opening. Since some were gonna continue working after the event, i tagged along without regrets!

8Q sam rocked! SO MANY GOODIES AND GOOD FOOD AND MOST IMPORTANTLY GREAT WORKS EXHIBITED!!!!!!!!!!! Donna Ong, Ahmad, KAi Syng, anjksnvaknuabg aibuuuuugi u all artists who participated had awesome works la !!! SO INSPIRING!!! and we met familiar faces! Mr big and the circus clan were there and i got new old news that i was actually sacked from the circus. hehehehe which means finally zero chance of going back there. Oh wells, i enjoyed my experience there and i learnt a great deal from there not only in skill, but about how things were run and about myself.

gonna start on my second piece of carving now. feeling a little restless though.

cat cat pics

i was walking home just now and chanced upon this cat cat which i am gonna name, Bittiey. She made me cheer up a little bit. Animals never fail to cheer me up when i am down. I observed the way she posed, the way she rolled about on the ground, and thought that it was all so wonderful to have her with me. Intend to use her as my muse for a series of woodcuts, since i love cats so much.

everything that i do now, i do without meaning.

i feel so damn lost. and useless. i hate this feeling.......

i still had to carry on with work even though i feel like shit. at least i have something to do. Clea came by. she was so sweet. she came not only to visit, but to give me a souvenir from her hometown. however it was the wrong timing. i was trying to drown myself in my work so that i could try and reflect and get over my trauma. and when she asked why i was feeling how i was feeling, i fought back the tears and just told her i don't feel like talking. i couldn't even stand up to say thanks. Because this was what i was doing around the people who were around doing what they were doing.

Float was also very sweet. she came by with her little sea lion and it pecked me on my cheek. I didn't expect that coming.

People have been nodding in approval of what i am creating. but what's the point of having something that looks fantastically promising, when it has nothing to back it up. It's as if i am creating a work without meaning, which i hate so badly. i feel so embrassed. i am so ashamed of myself. i need to find myself, fast.
